Oliver Payne of England was rightly adjudged Player of the Match as he was the wall that stood between India and a goal. The match ended in a goalless draw and courtesy of that, both India and England ended up having a point each.
As for stats, India had 31 circle penetrations compared to England’s 27. In terms of possession, both the teams were almost neck and neck with India dominating the possession in the last quarter. India were shown two cards while England got one. But when it came to the penalty corners, India earned only four while the English got, although none of the teams converted any.
In the next game, India will play Wales while England will face Spain.

A place in the quarterfinals is up for grabs
Though it is not official as Spain are yet to play their game against England and India will play England on January 19th, this match between India and England could virtually be a pre-quarterfinal game. The team topping this group would straightaway move to the quarterfinal while those finishing second and third would have to play the cross-overs to make their way to the last eight.
