India-South Africa second ODI: Chasing 279 runs, India cruising towards the target

RANCHI: Chasing a score of 279, India were 225/3 at the end of 37.6 overs. India lost an early wicket of captain Shikhar Dhawan. Wayne Parnell rattled the stumps sending Dhawan to the pavilion when he had scored 13 runs. Shubham Gill was the next to go. Gill was caught and bowled by Kagiso Rabada when he had scored 28 runs. Ishan Kishan scored 93 to prop up the score.

Earlier, choosing to bat first, South Africa were 278 helped by Reeza Hendricks (74) and Aiden Markram (79) against India in the second ODI of their three-match series at the Jharkhand State Cricket Association Stadium in Ranchi, on Sunday.

South Africa won the toss and elected to bat against hosts India in the second ODI of the three-match series here on Sunday.

Both India and South Africa have made two changes from the last match.

India handed all-rounder Shahbaz Ahmed his debut in international cricket and also drafted in Washington Sundar in place of Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ravi Bishnoi.

South Africa have dropped out-of-form regular skipper Temba Bavuma and spinner Tabraiz Shamsi.

Keshav Maharaj is leading the side in Bavuma’s absence.

Bjorn Fortuin and Reeza Hendricks have come into the visitors’ side.

India trails the series 0-1 after losing the first match by nine runs in Lucknow.
