Australia finish firmly on top for a second day in a row, this time thanks to their seam attack that ran through the star-studded Indian top-order and ensured none of them could convert their starts into big scores. Only all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was able to give the Aussies a proper fight, batting in the same mannner as Travis Head in the first innings. The Aussies managed to get rid of him shortly before stumps though, with Nathan Lyon getting him caught at slip.

For India, the primary objective will be to bring the deficit down to less than 200 and try and go past the 300-mark on the 'Moving Day'. For that to happen, Ajinkya Rahane will have to bat through the remainder of the innings and build major partnerships along the way, starting with overnight batting partner Srikar Bharat.

Jadeja's batting on 48 at the end of the 34th.

Jadeja then sends the ball towards the cover boundary for a four the next ball with a crisp drive off a full, wide delivery from Boland.

Rahane leans into an overpitched delivery from Cummins, driving it square through point to collect his third boundary and move to 17. Two balls later, Cummins appeals successfully for LBW against the former India captain, only for replays to show Cummins' foot landing outside the popping crease, giving Rahane a lucky reprieve. Despite the escape, Rahane will have to bat out of his skin to mount a big score the way the Aussie pacers are dictating terms at the moment.

Complicating those hopes are the fact that Rahane gets hit on the thumb while attempting to defend a length delivery from Cummins, leading to an extended stoppage in play as the Indian physio rushes out to the centre.

Tea on Day 2: Kohli decides to shoulder his way through the 10th over, allowing Cummins to collect his second maiden as India head to tea on 37/2, trailing by another 432 runs with seven wickets in hand.

The momentum had briefly shifted in favour of the Indians after they managed to restrict Australia to less than 500, grabbing the last three wickets for 47 runs after lunch. Australia, however, are back in control of the game after getting rid of both Indian openers in a space of a few deliveries, with Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli off to cautious starts.

Shubman Gill too gets off the mark with a boundary in final delivery of the the following over, bowled by Pat Cummins, producing an exquisite drive through extra cover. Cummins is found to have overstepped in that delivery, and has to bowl the final ball again.

Carey goes for a flick next ball, and nearly gets caught by Rahane at midwicket, with the ball ultimately racing away to the midwicket fence. Single to Carey off the final ball of the 111th.

Wicketkeeper-batter Alex Carey is off to a promising start and his contribution will be key to Australia's hopes of going past the 500-mark on the other side of the interval.

India will head back to the dressing room a happy bunch, having finally topped a session after getting thoroughly bossed by Australia on the opening day.
