Many Honkai and especially Genshin Impact fans are worried for the developers of their favorite games, HoYoverse, as the Covid lockdown in Shanghai continues, and as of April 5, all HoYoverse devs were working from home.
HoYoverse, previously miHoYo, is the Shanghai-based developer of anime-stylized games Honkai Impact, Tears of Themis, and Genshin Impact. The company reaches towards any kind of otaku-related entertainment as they also regularly publish anime shorts for Honkai, manga for Genshin, and new content and videos for Lumi N0va, their own Virtual YouTuber.
Now that we have reached the second half of Genshin Impact 2.6, many fans in the game’s community have been worried about possible delays seeing the ongoing situation in Shanghai. However, it looks like the update is still on schedule, for now.
Genshin Impact 2.7 Not Delayed Yet as Developer HoYoverse is Working From Home
Right now, despite rumors and fan speculation, most notably based on official Event schedules published by HoYoverse, no delays have been announced so far. Genshin Impact is still on track for a six weeks interval between each update; with Genshin Impact 2.7 planned for May 11, 2022. However, it’s important to note that the live stream for 2.7 will be happening in a few days, and it’s definitely when HoYoverse could ultimately decide to announce a delay.
As of now, the HoYoverse teams in Shanghai are currently working from home. HoYoverse told our peers at Kotaku that its offices were closed from April 1 till a least April 5. It’s unlikely the employees have gotten back to the offices though as the situation in Shanghai hasn’t improved that much yet as of April 18.
Highly Awaited Update will add New Characters Yelan and Kuki Shinobu
Genshin Impact 2.6 was one of the most awaited updates ever as it finally added Kamisato Ayato as a playable character and the Chasm as a playable area. Meanwhile, Version 2.7 is another highly awaited update as it will be adding new characters Yelan and Kuki Shinobu, both already popular among the community.
Genshin Impact 2.6 is currently available on PC, PS4, PS5, iOS, and Android. Make sure to check out our guides for the ongoing Hues of the Violet Garden event. Hopefully, the Genshin teams and other game devs in Shanghai will all be able to get out safely of this predicament, delays or not.
