Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’s biggest challenge was designing the Orgocorp headquarters featured in the film.
The film’s production designer, Beth Mickle, was asked this question by Screen Rant at the San Diego Comic-Con 2023. Mickle revealed that the unique design of “meat and bone” for Orgocorp was the most challenging aspect in the film’s production process. Mickle explained that it was an original concept for Orgocorp, unlike anything they had ever seen before:
“It was definitely Orgo. It was figuring out how to make meat and bone look appealing. And it was also convincing a lot of folks that was actually going to be a world that people would want to be in.”
Mickle further revealed that it was a completely new concept. Initially, there were some concerns and reservations about its uniqueness, but ultimately, they decided that it was an original idea that audiences would appreciate. Mickle shared that among all the feedback she has received about the film, the design of Orgocorp is what most people inquire about.
Actress Zoe Saldaña on Gamora joining the Ravagers
Fans of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 found much to enjoy and appreciate beyond the events at Orgocorp. One highlight of the film was Gamora’s comeback. Although she rejoins the Guardians during the film, the conclusion also shows her returning to the Ravagers. Actress Zoe Saldaña recently discussed this creative decision made by director James Gunn. Instead of opting for a predictable character arc where Gamora reunites with Peter Quill, Gunn took a different approach, allowing for a more unexpected and intriguing development in the storyline. Saldaña shared her insights on this matter in an interview with The Hollwood Reporter.
Saldaña recalls that it was a bittersweet decision, and thinks that it was the right way to end things for her:
“I wanted to know that in the final chapter, Gamora stays on and finds a way to become a Guardian again. But this felt like the right way to end things for her, because of what she had been through. At the end of the day, any multiverse that she would’ve come from, she was still going to have the same experience with Thanos [Josh Brolin], and she was still gonna have the same guilt and the same trauma. So she finally found solace with the Ravagers, and she felt more open than she had ever been.”
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is set to be available on Disney+ Hotstar starting from August 2, 2023. The film is currently streaming on Apple TV+, and available to rent on YouTube Movies and Google Play.
