Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3: Exclusive Deleted Scene Reveals High Evolutionary’s Fate

Spoilers ahead for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Although many fans initially believed the High Evolutionary died at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, eagle-eyed viewers soon noticed that Drax can be seen carrying the villain’s limp body as the Guardians escape his doomed vessel. Writer-director James Gunn later confirmed that High Evolutionary survived.

Now, in an unfinished, deleted scene that IGN can exclusively debut, fans can see for themselves what the High Evolutionary’s fate was after the Guardians defeated him.

You can watch the scene, which features unfinished visual effects, via the player above or the embed below.

In the clip titled “Knowhere After the Battle,” the High Evolutionary (Chukwudi Iwuji) is brought back to Knowhere and locked up by Rocket Raccoon. After years of imprisoning and torturing animals, High Evolutionary now finds himself the one trapped in a cage.

The deleted scene also shows Kraglin (Sean Gunn) recruiting Adam Warlock (Will Poulter) to join the Guardians. (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’s post-credits scene revealed that Adam had become a member of the team along with Phyla-Vell.)

“Knowhere After the Battle” is one of eight deleted scenes on the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 home release, which also features a gag reel and director’s commentary among its bonus content. Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 arrives on Digital on July 7 and on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD on August 1.
