Take-Two, the publishers behind popular titles like the Grand Theft Auto series, has announced layoffs affecting various divisions of the company.
Reports about the layoffs were first revealed by Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, who claimed that Take-Two’s job cuts affected various divisions, including the Private Division publishing label. The label is known for releasing various cult classic titles in recent years, which includes OlliOlli World, Hades, Kerbal Space Program 2, The Outer Worlds, and more.
Video game publisher Take-Two is laying people off today in its Private Division label and other divisions, sources tell Bloomberg. Spokesman Alan Lewis says the cuts “will better align our organization with our long-term priorities” and that the impact on dev teams is “minimal.”

Since then, Take-Two has confirmed cuts taking place across the company in a statement to PC Gamer. “We can confirm that there have been targeted reductions in our US teams, primarily in corporate operations and label publishing, which will better align our organization with our long-term priorities,” said Take-Two spokesperson Alan Lewis.
The layoffs come a month after Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick revealed plans of cutting down on personnel, after the company failed to meet previous quarter’s earnings forecast. The company has confirmed that such layoffs might also take place in teams outside the US as well. “Outside of the US, we have begun procedures in compliance with local law that we anticipate may result in similar reductions,” stated Lewis.
Take-Two claim in its statement that these layoffs will help sustain the exponential growth it has received over the years in the future as well.
