Google keeps making minor tweaks and changes to Google Photos. The company is now making some changes to the web version of Google Photos. 9to5Google has reported that Google Photos web is now getting more details into the ‘Info’ section of an uploaded image.
Google Photos earlier used to include information like ‘Uploaded from’ and ‘Shared by’ on the web and now it includes a new section called ‘Backed up’. This is a web-only option and that means it is not available on Android and iOS versions of Google Photos.
Furthermore, the new section brings a slew of new information about the uploaded photos. This includes details like day/date, location, device, EXIF and file data.
Apart from that, the new section will also tell users about the quality of the photo uploaded and inform users if the photos don’t take up space from their free 15GB free cloud storage that comes with their Google account.
Google Photos earlier used to show users the backup size. However, it has now been moved to the third plane and Google has now removed the backup size details for the photos that do not consume storage.
For those unaware, Google earlier used to offer unlimited cloud storage for photo backup in High quality mode. However, it changed it policy last year and now all the backups are counted against the 15GB free cloud storage.
Moreover, the company also announced its Google One subscription-based service to offer users additional cloud storage space along with additional benefits like more editing options under Google Photos app, Google Meet features and more.
As per the report, the update is currently being rolled out in a phased manner and is reportedly available to a limited number of users. Also, there’s no information available on when Google will roll out this new feature to a wider audience.
