NEW DELHI: Google is all set to take its partnership with Samsung to the next level. The company seems to be finally getting its own smartwatch and it may be branded as Pixel Watch. Rumours are rife that Google is all set to launch its first-ever smartwatch next year — 2022. This upcoming Apple Watch rival is said to be powered by Samsung’s Exynos chipset and come with next-generation Assistant for Wear OS.
Improved Google Assistant support coming to Pixel Watch
According to an online report by 9to5Google, the upcoming Pixel Watch is said to offer “next-generation Assistant.” The new and improved Assistant is designed to process your speech directly on your device rather than via Google’s servers.
The Google Assistant on the Watch will also be able to do things within your various apps like filtering the gallery in Google Photos via voice command. Along with this, it will also perform tasks like tweaking the phone settings when the user is completely offline.
Pixel Watch to be powered by Exynos chipset
After partnering with Samsung on the software front, Google is now all set to take things to the next level. The report suggests that the upcoming Pixel Watch will be powered by Samsung’s Exynos chipset. The smartwatch needs a high-end chipset for the Google Assistant to work like Pixel phones and to be able to process speech.
So, the report adds that with references to the codename ‘Rohan’ (The codename for Pixel Watch), suggests that the Pixel Watch may be powered by a Samsung Exynos processor. It is expected that the wearable will be powered by Exynos W920. This is the same chipset that powers the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4.
Fitness features of Pixel Watch
The Pixel Watch will offer all the key health and fitness tracking features like step and calorie counting, heart rate monitor and more. Fitbit’s CEO had earlier said that some of the popular Fitbit features would come to Wear watches.
When will Pixel Watch launch?
There are no confirmed timelines, but speculations suggest that the watch may launch in the spring of 2022, which means in the second quarter of the year.
