Google Docs to soon get emoji reactions: What it means for users – Times of India

After Instagram, Messenger, iMessage and others, Google is bringing the emoji reaction to Google Docs. As announced by Google in a blog post, Google Docs users will soon be able to leave emoji reactions in documents. Currently, Google Docs allows you to add a comment to any document. Emoji reactions will work in quite a similar way.
As per the GIF shared in the Google blog, users will now be able to see a new emoji button on the right side of the screen when they select a word or a passage. The emoji button will open an emoji picker with a search bar and a separate section for frequently used emojis. According to the company, the emoji set is updated to the latest version (Emoji 14.0), reflecting the latest emoji set with options to accurately reflect what you wish.
The new emoji panel in the Google Docs will also have gender-neutral options for gender-modifiable emojis. The company has also specified that emoji skin tone and gender preferences are saved per individual emoji. It is worth noting that the emoji reactions feature will be enabled by default and can not be disabled by the user. Additionally, emoji preferences are shared with Google Chat, so any preferences set in one app will be reflected in the other. Both apps can be used to update emoji preferences via the picker.
The new feature will only be available to Google Workspace Essentials, Business Starter, Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Standard and Enterprise Plus users in the coming weeks.
Apart from this, Google is also planning to roll out new features to improve the writing quality. The company has added extensive suggestions in Docs while writing an article. As a part of the new additions, Google Docs will now show suggestions for Alternate wording, Using active voice, Making sentence structure more concise, use of more inclusive language and potential inappropriate words.
