Global Online Certification Course on ‘Data-Driven Supply Chain Transformation 2022’ successfully launched by NITIE, Mumbai & IIT (BHU), Varanasi – Times of India

National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE), Mumbai, and Indian Institute of Technology (BHU), Varanasi, have successfully launched the Global Online Certification Course on ‘Data-Driven Supply Chain Transformation 2022’ in collaboration with Prof. David Simchi-Levi (Director of Data Science Lab, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), USA) under the leadership of Prof. Manoj K. Tiwari (Director, NITIE) and Prof. Pramod K Jain (Director, IIT (BHU), Varanasi). It is a 30-hour weekend-only course designed under the PM Gati Shakti scheme, scheduled from 16th July to 21st August 2022, and is open for industry professionals, academicians, and students.

The course was inaugurated virtually on 16th July 2022 by Honorable Chief Guest Shri K Sanjay Murthy, IAS – (Higher Education Secretary of India, Ministry of Education) and Mr. Saurabh Tiwari (Senior Director Supply Chain, Cipla SAGA) as the keynote speaker. With more than 1500 participants from 7 countries and 85 firms, including renowned national and worldwide organizations such as Micron, Tata Consumer Products, Tata Motors, Accenture, NTPC, KPMG, HCL, L&T, Cognizant, PwC, ITC, Crompton Greaves and many others, this course has received an incredible response.

In today’s rapidly evolving digital era, where organizations across industries generate massive volumes of data, there is a greater need for people who are data literate and have the analytical skills to extract meaningful insights from the data.

Identifying the need of the hour, National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE), Mumbai, and the Indian Institute of Technology (Banaras Hindu University), Varanasi have launched this course to help participants build their analytical acumen, which is crucial in driving modern supply chains. The course has been well received in terms of registrations and participation from students and academicians from IIMs, IITs, and other top higher educational institutions across the country, indicating that they are ideally positioned to nurture India’s budding talent.

The session focused on how various firms operate and adapt to changing conditions and how a defiant India is trying to seize this opportunity offered by the rapid digital transformation. Shri K Sanjay Murthy presented the participants with an overview of the Indian government’s significant efforts under the PM Gati Shakti scheme and how it aims to bring together 16 Ministries, to provide multi-modal connectivity infrastructure to various economic zones through integrated planning and coordinated implementation of infrastructure connectivity projects. Mr. Saurabh Tiwari enlightened the participants on how to choose the right tools and technology to build the framework for digital supply chain transformation. He emphasized the benefits that digital supply chains in the fields of automotive, consumer product goods, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing and transportation.
