Ghostwire: Tokyo Comes To Xbox Game Pass This April Alongside Big New Update

Ghostwire: Tokyo is coming to Xbox on April 12, Microsoft and Bethesda have announced. The game was originally released in March 2022 for PlayStation 5 and PC, but this is the first time the game is coming to Xbox. Developer Tango Gameworks is owned by Microsoft, but that wasn’t the case when publisher Bethesda signed a console exclusivity deal with PlayStation for the original release.

The game will be available on Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass, in addition to presumably being available to buy outright.

In addition to coming to Xbox, Ghostwire: Tokyo will get an update on April 12–the Spider’s Thread update–that adds a new mode, new locations to explore, additional cutscenes, and quality-of-life improvements. These updates will also be released for the PS5 and PC versions of Ghostwire: Tokyo.

The Spider’s Thread mode takes players into a “30-stage gauntlet” with the aim for the player of trying to survive to the end. “As players clear challenges and complete stages, they will unlock more skills and earn in-game currency to spend on upgrades,” Microsoft said.

Additionally, the Spider’s Thread update adds more places in Tokyo to explore, including a school. There will be additional missions, too, while the main game story that already exists will have additional cutscenes added to help provide players will a “deeper look” into the narrative.

Finally, new enemies are coming to Ghostwire: Tokyo in the Spider’s Thread update, including the Silent Gaze–who is invisible–and the Retribution, which is described as being “elusive.” Players get new skills in the update in the form of the Charge Rush and the Counter Attack to help fight off the new baddies.

Tango Gameworks’ latest release was the surprise-launch Hi-Fi Rush, which released at the end of January. The studio is better known for its The Evil Within series. Following the launch of Hi-Fi Rush, studio head Shinji Mikami announced he was leaving the team.
