Genshin Impact Finally Provides Fontaine Crumbs

As HoYoverse gears towards releasing the Version 3.7 update of Genshin Impact, we got a short tease of Fontaine, the next region in the game.

The video teaser shows Aether swimming in a place rich in coral life with highly detailed underwater terrain. You can also likely dive into the water in Fontaine as opposed to just swimming on the surface. This new dynamic marks a significant change from the current mechanics of the game.

One of the seven regions in Teyvat, Fontaine is associated with the hydro element. This explains the teaser giving us a look at Fontaine’s underwater area. It is also mentioned in the game’s lore that diving certificates are a thing in Fontaine. This ability could very well make its way into the game to unlock diving.

The Hydro Archon Focalors, who is the God of Justice, rules over the land. We don’t know much about her, other than the fact that she is not one of the original members of The Seven.

The God of Justice lives for the spectacle of the courtroom, seeking to judge all other gods. But even she knows not to make an enemy of the divine.

While NPCs from Fontaine have appeared in the game giving us random titbits about the region, Version 3.7 of Genshin Impact will also feature Charlotte, a character who is from the area. She is a reporter from the main newspaper of the Court of Fontaine – The Steambird. For some context, Mona is also a columnist in the same newspaper.

Fontaine appears to be inspired by early 20^th century France according to the clothing of NPCs that appear from the region. It is also the land of many inventions, such as the Kamera and the Mikage Furnace. Its technological prowess is also frequently mentioned in quests.

Genshin Impact Version 3.7 comes out on May 24th, 2023. But it remains to be seen when we will be introduced to Fontaine.
