Although some fans are negatively responding to cryptocurrencies becoming a part of the future video games, NFTs will exactly work in the same manner as the current cosmetic items while allowing you to sell them and get your money back whenever you want.

Now, having open NFT marketplaces that could allow you to buy or sell various gaming NFTs would be a huge necessity for those who are interested in this area in the near future, and GameStop apparently wants to become the first giant gaming NFT retailer in the world.

GameStop Opens Up An NFT Marketplace

GameStop now has an official online domain for its own NFT marketplace, though we don’t have a clue on when it’s going to be fully launched.

Currently, GameStop is inviting all creators to join its NFT marketplace, but there is no official day or date on when we can expect a full announcement of this new project.

Among the triple-A game developers and publishers around the world, Ubisoft is the first company to announce its first set of NFTs for Ghost Recon Breakpoint. Square Enix has also revealed that it will bring NFTs into its titles in the future. Konami has also introduced a number of NFTs for the 35th anniversary of the Castlevania series recently.

This all proves that the gaming industry will gradually move toward adding NFTs to video games as long as it delivers more revenue and flexibility to the management of cosmetic items.

Furthermore, GameStop seems to create its own crypto token as well. If you copy the token address on GameStop’s NFT Marketplace and search it online, you will soon realize that it belongs to a token called GME on the Etherium network.

If GameStop only allows users to buy or sell NFTs with its dedicated currency, it could bring huge revenue to the retailer in the future, when NFTs are well-grown and accepted as a part of the gaming industry.
