Four new judges appointed to Israel’s Supreme Court

The four new judges who will become part of the 15 judges on the Supreme Court are: Judge Gila Kanfi-Steinitz, Judge Khaled Kabub, Adv. Yechiel Kasher and Judge Ruth Ronen.


Israel’s Judicial Selection Committee has chosen four new judges for the Supreme Court. As expected, the choice of the judghes was supported by most of the nine members of the committee with MK Simcha Rotman, from the far right Religious Zionism party voted against. Minister of Interior Ayelet Shaked also voted against the appointment of Ruth Ronen and abstained on the vote for Khaled Kabub.

The four new judges who will become part of the 15 judges on the Supreme Court are: Judge Gila Kanfi-Steinitz, Judge Khaled Kabub, Adv. Yechiel Kasher and Judge Ruth Ronen.

Judge Gila Kanfi-Steinitz has served as deputy president of the Jerusalem District Court since 2016. She was appointed as a judge in the Jerusalem magistrate court in 1993 and moved up to the District Court in 2006.

Judge Khaled Kabub has served as Deputy President of the Tel Aviv District Court since 2017. He was appointed as a judge in the Tel Aviv magistrate court in 1997 and moved up to the District Court in 2003.

Adv. Yechiel Kasha is a partner and head of the litigation department at the Tadmor Levy & Co. law firm.

Judge Ruth Ronen has served as a judge in the Tel Aviv District Court economics division since 2010. She was appointed as a judge in the Tel Aviv magistrate court in 1995 and moved up to the District Court in 2005.
