There are a lot of unique enemies to hunt down in Final Fantasy 16. Once you reach a certain point in the game’s story, you will be given access to a plethora of hunts that have you being tasked with hunting down some specific, special enemies. These enemies are often tougher and harder to beat than the usual suspects you could find out in the world.
The Blood Moon, Terminus, is one of these special creatures that you can hunt down. This large orb looks like an innocent machine kind of thing. However, don’t let its looks fool you; this thing can pack a punch, and you will want to know what you are getting yourself into in order to come out victorious.
How To Start The Hunt
You will be able to take this hunt on once you have completed the side quest, Weird Science. With that quest out of the way, return to the Hideaway and speak with the Moogle, who will give you access to this hunt. Select it, and you can go off and hunt this thing down. Be sure to stock up on potions and other supplies before you head out to keep yourself as safe as possible.
How To Beat The Blood Moon
Coincidentally, the Blood Moon can be found in the same location as another hunt: the Bomb King. Both of these creatures are found at The Crock in Crenbreque. This area is south of the Dragon’s Aery area, and once you approach the area – and as long as the Bomb King has already been taken care of – the Blood Moon will be waiting for you.
The most important thing to remember when fighting the Blood Moon is to keep moving and be ready to dodge. The Blood Moon will use its size to dish out some decent damage when you are up close to it. It does this by slamming itself into Clive, which is easy to dodge but pretty rough when not.
Beyond that, it will use its lasers to shoot at you and other various area-of-effect attacks to try and damage you. You just have to keep dodging these moves and get your attacks in when you can. You can find a time to retreat and heal if needed as well.
It can also make an attack where it separates its body and uses it to pin you between the two pieces repeatedly. And once it has done this crushing three times, there will be a large explosion that can do some severe damage to you. When you see it separate its body, move away; you do not want to get caught in this attack.
After you have taken enough of its health away, the Blood Moon will start to use Hypersurge, where it starts bouncing around the arena, causing more area-of-effect damage around it, and it won’t allow you to get in close for some melee attacks. When it does this, keep moving to avoid the area-of-effect attacks and use ranged moves to do some damage until it’s done.
Finally, it can also use Short Circuit, which has it firing off lasers in all directions, with one laser shooting at and homing in on Clive. You can take care of this attack with Titan’s Fist to negate the damage it can do. You can also just run away from the laser to avoid it as well. Once the move is over, the Blood Moon will be vulnerable, so you can use Phoenix Shift to move in quickly and get some good hits in.
With these tools, the Blood Moon will fall, and you will net yourself 3200 XP, 85 Ability Points, 9800 Gil, and 35 Renown, as well as two Meteorites. Not a bad haul to bring in.
