10 Basic Combo

The very first attack combo you will learn is the Basic one, and it’s available for you to use in your very first encounter with the Morbol in Stillwind by way of the standard melee attack and the magic burst, and it deserves a nod on this list.

This multi-hit combo can be achieved by hitting Square+Square+Square+Square and then ending the combo by deploying a magic burst pressing Triangle. The great thing about the Basic combo is its use throughout the game as you can always turn to it while Eikon abilities are in cooldown.

9 Magic Burst Combo

The next standard attack to master, that will serve you throughout gameplay, is the magic burst combo, which is the perfect balance of melee and magic attacks. However, if you’re using this combo on a mob, you will need to Evade several times in between using it.

This combo is activated when you alternate between melee attacks and magic bursts to achieve a Square+Triangle+Square+Triangle rhythm which will cause enemies to be pelted with a flurry of damage. Another simple entry but a staple in Clive’s arsenal that deserves a place in the low ranks.

8 Lunge Attack + Magic Burst Combo

Clive’s final standard combo is also worth a nod in the ranks, which will serve you throughout every long-haul battle. By combining a lunge attack with a magic burst, you can deal constant damage to enemies albeit a small amount. Both of them are great early abilities to get.

In order to perform this combo, simply press Square+Cross to activate a lunge attack followed by pressing Triangle to deploy a magic burst. This combo is particularly effective against smaller enemies, and it’s another attack to fall back on while your Eikon abilities charge.

7 Shiva + Ramuh + Odin Combo

Moving into the more visually pleasing attacks and one from the latter end of the game involves combining Shiva’s Cold Snap with Ramuh’s Lightning Rod and Odin’s Dancing Steel abilities and this combo deals a significant amount of damage while enemies chill. This is a great example and mixing up several abilities from the different Eikon Abiltiy Trees.

It’s worth mentioning that you have to equip the Eikon abilities by pressing Options and heading to the Abilities tab first. Here you can assign and swap all your Eikon abilities. You then hit R2 plus the button assigned to the ability you want to use. You can also press L2 to switch to the next set of abilities. As a particularly useful combo to grapple advantage on the field and worth a mention in the low ranks, players can achieve this combo by pressing R2+Cold Snap followed by R2+Lightning Rod and R2+Dancing Steel.

6 Ifrit + Ramuh Combo

Closing out the low ranks is a rather simple combo that prioritizes both offense and defense at the same time by combining Ifrit’s Will-’o-the-Wykes ability with Ramuh’s Lightning Rod, and it’s particularly useful to learn if you want to get up close and personal with an enemy.

You can perform this combo by pressing R2+Will-’o-the-Wykes followed by R2+Lightning Rod with the former ability protecting you from incoming attacks while you deploy a second frenzied attack of lightning to your adversary.

5 Garuda + Phoenix Combo

Clive uses a Phoenix Combo which activate a fiery wing against an enemy in Final Fantasy 16

Kicking off the top five attack combos is the union of Garuda and Phoenix on the field to deliver a whirlwind of fire and this combo is open to creative input and effective on staggered enemies.

This worthy halfway combo can be achieved by either beginning with a Square+Cross lunge attack or pressing Square to add the Burning Blade into the mix. You can then deploy R2+Gouge followed by R2+Deadly Embrace and R2+Wicked Wheel. While your enemy is in the air, perform a series of midair attacks by pressing Square followed by a downthrust attack through Square+Cross. Finish this combo by activating R2+Rising Flames followed by R2+Scarlet Cyclone, and it’s up to you whether you finish with Punish (Square) or not.

4 Garuda + Titan Combo

Taking fourth place is an easy combo to activate Garuda’s Wicked Wheel with Titan’s Upheaval and this may be an eye-catching move for wrestling fans who want to see enemies meet the hard canvas and feel deeply satisfied with it afterward.

Pressing R2+Wicked Wheel will lift your opponent into the air, and you’ll then be able to press R2+Upheaval in order to drive your enemy into the ground and deliver a crushing blow to their HP gauge.

3 Torgal Combo

Third place goes to a trusty Torgal combo (which is a no-brainer) because Clive’s loyal companion has pulled him out of some tricky situations during gameplay and nothing feels better than teaming up with your best friend in order to deliver a united fatality.

A simple combo to try with Torgal is Ravage by pressing Left on the D-Pad and then Down followed by Square to Punish, or you can use Ravage to set up R2+Phoenix Shift followed by Square to perform Aerial attacks and Triangle for magic bursts. Before you hit the ground, use Square+Cross to downthrust ending with Square to Punish. You may need to Square+Cross to lunge closer before using Punish.

2 Mesmerize Combo

In second place is the Mesmerize combo, courtesy of Shiva, which is a simple ability to perform that sets up every wide-range Eikon ability in your arsenal, and it’s the perfect combo to deploy when fighting a mob.

Use R2+Mesmerize in order to pull enemies closer to you, and then you can perform a number of wide-ranged Eikon abilities as a follow-up attack, including Phoenix’s R2+Rising Flames, Ramuh’s R2+Judgment Bolt, Titan’s R2+Earthen Fury or a double Shiva attack with R2+Diamond Dust.

1 Zantetsuken Combo

Clive uses Zantetsuken to strike and enemy while lightning surrounds him in Final Fantasy 16

In first place is perhaps the most eye-catching combo of them all and one that deals an insane amount of damage to any enemy by way of Odin and Zantetsuken.

Firstly, make sure the Zantetsuken gauge is full, and then trigger a Limit Break by pressing the Left+Right analog sticks. Then press R2+Lightning Rod followed by long pressing Square, R2+Arm of Darkness, and then releasing Square to action Zantetsuken. You can then deploy R2+Dancing Steel followed by another long press Square, R2+Arm of Darkness, and release Square to bring Zantetsuken out again. Adding a Phoenix ability in at the end, such as R2+Rising Flames, can give this combo an extra finisher.
