Fast X: Vin Diesel Hints That Finale Could Be a Trilogy

It turns out Fast & Furious might not end with 11 movies after all.

Speaking to a Fandango reporter at the Fast X premiere in Rome, Vin Diesel and Michelle Rodriguez teased the possibility for Fast X to be made into a trilogy.

When asked about the future of Dom outside of the Fast Saga, Diesel initially seemed to hint at a possible future for Dom by saying “You want to allow people to enjoy the film without tipping the hat too much.”

“After the studio saw this part one they said ‘could you make Fast X, the finale, a trilogy?'”

But, seemingly unable to contain himself he added: “Going into making this movie the studio had asked if this could be a two-parter, and after the studio saw this part one they said ‘could you make Fast X, the finale, a trilogy?'”

Rodriguez chimed in by teasing “It’s 3X in any story,” before she and Diesel began walking away from the interviewer.

As they walked away, they were asked if they were confirming the existence of a third movie to end the saga, to which Diesel coyly replied “I don’t want to get in trouble here.”

Universal has not yet responded to IGN’s request for comment.

Fast X was originally announced as a duology that would end the long-running series of street racing movies turned action-packed blockbusters. It previously face production struggles in the wake of longtime writer/director Justin Lin unexpectedly quitting over changes to the script and story (for which Diesel is rumored to do last-minute). Louis Leterrier stepped in to take the reins of Fast X and the untitled 11th film.

Fast X will be in theaters next Friday on May 19, with its upcoming sequel currently slated for 2025. Right now, that sequel is officially meant to be the final film in the Fast Saga, but as we’ve seen with Diesel before: that could very well change.
