There is no doubt that Instagram is now the most popular social media platform, the title which was once secured by its parent company Facebook.
But it appears that the Mark Zuckerberg-led organisation doesn’t want people to forget about Facebook as a platform, which is why it is testing “a way” to remind Instagram users about all the features that are available only on Facebook as a platform.
According to a report by Engadget, a company spokesperson has confirmed that it is testing how Instagram users react by seeing a notice at the top of their feed which urges them to check out Facebook-only features.
“We’re testing a way to let people who have connected their Instagram accounts to Facebook know about features only available there, such as how to find a job, date online, buy and sell goods, or catch up on the latest news,” a spokesperson said in a statement.”
This test is apparently being conducted with “a very small group” of Instagram users.
Facebook and Instagram integration
Over the years, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has made it quite clear how the company plans to integrate the main social networking website with Instagram.
Back in August 2020, Facebook integrated Messenger chats and Instagram direct messages for both Android and iOS running devices. This was followed by Instagram Stories.
Then in September last year, it announced the launch of cross-platform messaging by allowing users to use Facebook Messenger and Instagram to message one another app to app.
Ever since then, both the Messenger and Instagram DMs have been getting the same feature updates such as Archived Chats folder, themes and more.
