Spider-Man: No Way Home star Tom Holland wants to see Andrew Garfield return for The Amazing Spider-Man 3.
During an interview with Comicbook.com, the 25-year-old Spider-Man star revealed that he wants to see Andrew Garfield back in his own franchise, even though he has his own Spider-Man series to think about.
“I would love to see The Amazing Spider-Man 3,” he said. “I think what was so wonderful was how Andrew was able to kind of make amends with the character and the studio, you know, to kind of win the general public back.”
Both Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire appeared alongside Holland in Spider-Man: No Way Home during a crowd-pleasing multiverse crossover. Joining the action as their individual Spider-Men, they brought decades of Spider-Man movies together into one fan-friendly cocktail.
Shortly after the film’s release, Spider-Fans were buzzing about Andrew Garfield, making The Amazing Spider-Man 3 trend on Twitter after calling for Sony to make it happen.
Of course, Garfield’s stint as Spider-Man was cut short after The Amazing Spider-Man 2, with plans for a sequel, as well as several other Spider-Man spin-offs, canned after a deal was made with Marvel.
Tom Holland was then cast in a reboot, first appearing as the MCU’s Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War before heading up his own trilogy, starting with Spider-Man: Homecoming. Holland’s trilogy recently came to a close with No Way Home, while re-introducing the former Spider-Men of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield for a cameo appearance which was originally supposed to be a post-credit stinger.
But now that Spider-Man: No Way Home has become Sony’s highest-grossing film of all time you have to wonder whether there’s room in the Spider-Verse for Garfield once more. After all, he has revealed that he would play Spider-Man again.
Spider-Man: No Way Home stars Tom Holland as Peter Parker, along with Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield as their own versions of Spider-Man. They’re joined by Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Marisa Tomei, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Jon Favreau.
