Elon Musk is one of the busiest entrepreneurs on the planet as he currently owns multiple business in industries like automotive, energy, space and many more.
As part of his work, Musk has travelled around the world and fans know about his travels, thanks to a Twitter bot run by Jack Sweeney.
The college student runs the Twitter account @ElonJet which tracks the location of Musk’s private plane around the world. Almost every day, users can visit the Twitter account to see the last known location of the plane. Along with that, it also tweets about take-off and landing details as well.
While the bot only reveals the location of the plane, and not Musk per se, it seems like the billionaire doesn’t particularly enjoy his location being tracked by the 19-year-old.
As reported by Protocol, the founder of Tesla recently approached Jack Sweeney in a Twitter DM, as the former tried to shut down the bot.
In his Twitter conversations with Musk, Sweeney revealed that he earned around $20 a month. However, the founder of SpaceX offered the 19-year-old a hefty sum of $5000 to close the bot forever.
Jack Sweeney has disclosed that he runs multiple plane tracking Twitter bots for the private jets of tech billionaires like Bill Gates and Jeff Bezos. So, most people would believe that he can still thrive off them even if he took the $5000 offer from Musk.
However, Sweeney hit back Elon with a counteroffer of $50,000 that would help him pay for his college or even buy a Tesla Model 3. Sweeney further revealed that Musk is contemplating the offer.
However, as of right now, Sweeney has received no compensation, and the account is still running with the latest tweet revealing the plane’s location to be Austin, Texas.
We track the plane not who may or may not be onboard.

It will be interesting to see if Elon will fold to Sweeney’s demands and give him the money he’s asked for. Recently, the college student has even sent out another counteroffer of an internship at Musk’s tech company instead of the $50,000. However, the billionaire hasn’t read the message yet, and it remains to be seen if the account will eventually be shut down anytime soon.
