Elden Ring Samurai Class Guide: Everything You Need to Know

Elden Ring has just released and ratings for the game have already skyrocketed. Elden Ring is an open-world, fantasy, action-adventure game, developed by FromSoftware, who have built their enormous reputation through the fantastic Demon Souls series. In this role-playing adventure, the players will have to start the game by selecting a class for their character and build that class to its advantages while progressing through the game.

Having an understanding of a certain class will help the player with their choices for the game. One of the classes that players have been particularly curious about is the Samurai Class in Elden Ring. Here are the stats that players would begin with in the Samurai Class in Elden Ring:

The dominant stats of the Samurai class are Dexterity, Strength, Endurance and Vigor. Samurai class is the best fit for players looking to use katanas and bow and arrows in their play style. This is a great starter class for beginner players of Elden Ring. The Samurai Class has good armor to begin with, the class is also agile so dodging and attacking would be easier. As the Samurai wields a katana and a bow and arrow, the players that choose this class would be able to integrate close range and distant combat in their playstyle.

One of tips that will help the player a lot in the start while building this class is that in the character creation screen the players should choose Golden Seed as a keepsake for the Samurai Class. The Golden Seed will provide the player with either 1 Healing or 1 Mana Potion extra which will turn out to be a great advantage while progressing through the beginning of the game.

Arrows are one of the weapons that players will use a lot with this class, as it will allow them to take down distant weak enemies with just one or two shots, this will allow them to save time and also preserve some of their health. In the beginning of the game, Elden Ring does not provide the players with an abundant supply of arrows therefore, players would either have to buy them or craft them. Crafting Arrows would end up being a lot more cost efficient for the players, but there are certain items they need to collect in order to do that. Check out how to craft arrows below:

• The players will first have to head over to Church of Elleh, this is an area they need to go to eventually in the game.
• From this area, the players would need to purchase the Crafting Kit and the Normadic Warrior’s Cookbook.
• The cookbook will teach the players to craft Bone Arrows, these are made with thin beast bones that can be obtained by hunting down smaller animals in the game.

The Uchigatana is the weapon the players should choose for the Samurai Class; it has a great attack list that players will have to get used to by playing the game. As it is a long sword, the players will also have a decent amount of range while playing with this katana. The Uchigatana has a special move called Unsheathe that is incredibly fast and inflicts a great amount of damage to the enemies.

The players will have to use the weapon in a two-handed style mostly as the Unsheathe ability can only be performed two handed. The Uchigatana also has an auxiliary effect called Bleed Build Up. This effect is not directly noticeable on the screen, but basically slicing the enemies enough times will build up this effect and progressively increase the damage inflicted with each slice.

While building the Samurai Class the players should focus on Strength and Dexterity as these are stats that will be mainly used during combat situations, players can choose to keep Dexterity a bit higher than Strength if they wish to. Vigor will be another stat that players should build upon as they will be constantly taking hits in close range combat situation.

Having a decent amount of Vigor will allow them to survive these hits for longer. Mind stats are also something they need to focus on as they will use the Mighty Shot special ability on the Bow and Unsheathe on the Uchigatana, this consumes the FP bar in the game. Building on Mind stats will allow them to have a longer bar and use these abilities a lot more freely.

As the playstyle can be divided into short range and long range combat, the players will have to decide their approach according to the enemies they face. Elden Ring has a complex roster of bosses with each having their own attacks and traits, some enemies would keep distance and fire at the players at a range and some would be extremely aggressive and just charge at the players. Through these combat situations the players will have to strategically use their special abilities in combination with the dodge skill to take down enemies with ease. Each enemy’s attack style would have to be studied by the player before deploying a strategy to take them down.
