Elden Ring is a massive game that features an equally massive variety of weapons. With more than 300 armaments to choose from, you can bet your bottom Rune that you’re always going to be able to find the perfect weapon for your preferred playstyle.

Whether you want to take on the role of a half-naked barbarian swinging a ridiculously oversized axe, a cunning rogue who uses bows and daggers to get the job done, or a powerful wizard capable of unleashing untold destruction using just a magical staff, in Elden Ring every conceivable playstyle is viable. Provided you have the right weapons to support it, of course.

In typical open-world RPG fashion, Elden Ring has its fair share of both good and terrible weapons. To help you figure out which of the game’s many armaments are worth your time, we’ve put together a comprehensive tier list that includes every single weapon available in the game. Strength Scaling Weapons

Strength scaling weapons tend to be slow and heavy, but what they lack in subtlety they more than make up for in physical damage potential. This attribute is associated with the Fire and Heavy affinities. Most Greatswords, Colossal Swords, Colossal Weapons, Axes, Greataxes, Hammers, Great Hammers, Great Spears, and Fist Weapons fall into this category. A fair number of Halberds, Straight Swords, Curved Greatswords, and Twinblades are also classified as Strength scaling weapons.

Dexterity scaling weapons tend to be quick and light while often also offering good critical damage. This attribute is associated with the Lightning and Keen affinities. Most Daggers, Straight Swords, Thrusting Swords, Curved Swords, Katanas, Flails, Spears, Whips, Claws, Bows, and Light Bows fall into this category. Intelligence scaling weapons usually serve as backup weapons for builds that rely primarily on Sorceries, although some of them can reliably be used as main weapons as well. This attribute is associated with the Magic and Cold affinities. Unsurprisingly, the vast majority of Glintstone Staves fall into this category. In addition, a fair number of Greatswords and a few other types of armaments like Daggers and Straight Swords are also classified as Intelligence scaling weapons.

Faith Scaling Weapons

Faith scaling weapons are perfect for priests, paladins, and other character archetypes that pair armaments with Incantations for buffs, healing, and the occasional bit of Holy damage. This attribute is associated with the Sacred and Flame Art affinities. Aside from a handful of exceptions, every Sacred Seal in Elden Ring falls into this category. Arcane Scaling Weapons

There are less than a dozen weapons in Elden Ring that scale primarily with Arcane, making these some of the rarest armaments in the game. Most Arcane scaling weapons come equipped with powerful Ashes of War or passive effects that give players a significant edge in combat. This attribute is associated with Blood, Poison, and Occult affinities. Given their rarity, you won’t be able to find more than one Arcane scaling weapon in any of Elden Ring’s many weapon categories, However, there are several other weapons not found below that use Arcane as a secondary attribute.

Split Scaling Weapons

Quality weapons are generally associated with Strength and Dexterity split scaling, but Elden Ring throws a couple of curveballs at players by including other combinations. Only some of these weapons are actually associated with the Quality affinity, however, all of them have been placed on this special tier list because of their split scaling. You can find at least one example of a Quality/split scaling armament in almost every weapon category, with Straight Swords and Spears having the most representatives.

Weapon Sorting And Ranking Methodology

While many weapons in Elden Ring are pretty cut and dry when it comes to scaling, others are not. There are quite a few weapons that scale equally with multiple attributes and need their own category. Quality weapons in other souls-like games tend to be STR/DEX, but Elden Ring features additional permutations like STR/FTH or DEX/INT. Everything that scales equally well with multiple attributes, regardless of what they may be, went into the Quality/Split Scaling category.

As far as the other weapons are concerned, some of them might seem like they were erroneously placed in the wrong category, however, that’s not the case. We took Ashes of War scaling into account when compiling this list and it just so happens that there are quite a few Ashes of War that scale with different attributes than the weapons they are attached to.

Ash of War scaling took priority over weapon scaling in cases where the skill is more important than the weapon. After all, regular attack damage scaling doesn’t matter too much if you’re only using the weapon for its Ash of War. It is important to note that this distinction was only made in the case of weapons with unique Ashes of War. All other armaments have been sorted based on the attributes that impact weapon damage.

Another important thing to keep in mind is that max scaling is often different than base scaling. For instance, a weapon’s base scaling can be D STR/D DEX, but its max scaling can be D STR/C DEX. In many cases where the max scaling seems equal, there is actually a hidden primary attribute and you can figure out what it is by looking at which attribute starts scaling first. We took that into account as well when putting together the tier lists.

All the weapons on the tier lists above were sorted and ranked based on their max scaling in combination will all other factors you might expect, such as unique skills (if any), range, damage, speed, weight, passive effects, and more. We only went with five tiers and, as per usual with these things, S is the highest and includes the best weapons while D is the worst and includes the worst ones. Within each tier, weapons are listed mostly by type and are not ranked against each other.
