Edge 91 will be the best-performing browser on Windows 10, claims Microsoft – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Tech giant Microsoft has announced that its Edge browser will be the fastest browser for Windows 10. The company made this announcement during its annual developer conference Build 2021. The Edge browser will get a speed boost with its version 91 rolling out this week.
The browser is all set to get the sleeping tabs feature which will prioritise computing tabs that you are actively using while pausing the others in the background. This upcoming feature will give a speed boost to the browser.
The company claims that the new version will also make the browser faster. Microsoft also mentioned that the changes will make Edge 91 “the best-performing browser on Windows 10”.
This is not a new feature as Google has also added a similar feature to its Chrome browser. The tab throttling feature on Google Chrome chills the background tab activity and gives priority to the active tabs.
Microsoft Edge is the second most popular internet browser in the world. According to a report by NetMarketShare, Microsoft Edge has ‘edged’ Mozilla Firefox into third place and now has a 7.59% market share. Firefox in the third spot has a 7.19% market share. Google Chrome remains the undisputed number one internet browser with a whopping 68.5% market share.
Recently, Microsoft also announced that it is pulling the plug on its 25-year-old web browser — Internet Explorer. The company claims that the ageing web browser has been unused by most consumers for years.
The tech giant will end the support for Internet Explorer on June 15, 2022. “We are announcing that the future of Internet Explorer on Windows 10 is in Microsoft Edge. The Internet Explorer 11 desktop application will be retired and go out of support on June 15, 2022, for certain versions of Windows 10,” the company said in an official blog post.
