Dungeons and Dragons Movie Characters Get Actual D&D Stat Sheets

If you were hoping to use the characters from the upcoming tabletop RPG-inspired movie Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves in your upcoming campaign, then you’re in luck.

Available for free through D&D Beyond, “Thieves’ Gallery” gives full stat blocks and descriptions for the movie’s main characters, like Chris Pine’s character Edgin Darvis, a bard with a special action called “Disorienting Words,” which allows him to magically taunt his opponents.

The seven stat blocks provided run the gamut of races and character classes known to the world of D&D, including Doric the tiefling and Simon Aumar the sorcerer, and even include cartoon art for each character, like Holga Kilgore the barbarian who unmistakably looks like Fast & Furious’ Michelle Rodriguez.

Interestingly, some of the details in the stat blocks seem to offer clues into what to expect from each character in the movie, like Hugh Grant’s character Forge Fitzwilliam, whose “Double-Cross” ability certainly made me raise an eyebrow.

“We thought the most likely use that they’re going to see in a DnD campaign is as NPCs who show up.”

In an interview provided alongside the gallery, D&D game designer Chris Perkins talks about how he hopes these stat blocks will be incorporated into tabletop sessions.

“When it was decided that we were going to represent these characters in our game we hit upon the idea of doing them as stat blocks, because we thought the most likely use that they’re going to see in a DnD campaign is as NPCs who show up.”

With the movie’s imminent release, we’ll be a lot more familiar with this band of misfits soon enough, and Perkins thinks tabletop fans will understand the characters better having seen the stat blocks and the movies.

“When you have both and you’ve seen both, you’ll see where the similarities are and what we tried to do in the stats to reflect what we see in the movie.”
