Dune Is ‘Nothing’ Compared to Part Two, Says Star Rebecca Ferguson

Dune: Part Two star Rebecca Ferguson says Dune is “f**king nothing” in comparison to its sequel.

During an interview with Collider, she explained how Dune: Part Two goes beyond the groundwork laid in the first movie.

“I’m smiling so much right now,” she said. “It’s so f**king good. I get emotional talking about it because I love Denny [Villeneuve] and I love Greig [Fraser] and I love the team.

“It’s f**king nothing compared to number two. Number two, it’s like a f**king gut punch.”

“But dude, number one is phenomenal and big and grandiose, and then you go close-ups and the imagery and the acting. Yeah, it’s all great. It’s f**king nothing compared to number two. Number two, it’s like a f**king gut punch. It’s unreal.”

Dune: Part Two is directed by Villeneuve and will conclude the epic tale of Paul Atreides (Timothee Chalamet) as he unites with Chani (Zendaya) and the Fremen to take the fight to the Harkonnens.

Along with the returning cast, Austin Butler will star as the villainous Feyd-Rautha alongside Christopher Walken as the Emperor. Florence Pugh also stars as Princess Irulan.

“Their characters are huge and important,” said Ferguson. “They are emperors, and they are princesses, and they are brutal killers, and they are gory. They are fully and utterly needed to make the spectacle that it is, and it’s the crème de la f**king crème of actors. That’s what it brings.”

Ferguson may not have seen the film yet, but she admitted that did visit the set when not filming – something that she never normally does.

“I haven’t seen the film. I’ve read the script. I’ve seen the footage. I’ve come onto set when I’m not filming, which by the way I don’t do because I’m too busy, tired, and I don’t really care. I’m done. I wanted to see the setups. I wanted to see Austin Butler do what he was doing. It’s unbelievable. There are no words. The costumes, [Jacqueline West’s] costumes, what Austin’s bringing to that character, what Christopher Walken does. I mean, it’s unreal.”

IGN’s Dune: Part One review gave it 7/10 and said: “Denis Villeneuve’s Dune is beautiful to behold, a faithful adaptation of Frank Herbert’s novel. This is a technically brilliant, visually amazing movie with a top-notch cast and deep sci-fi concepts. A shame, then, that it feels like a drag in its back half.”
