Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero is coming to Crunchyroll’s streaming service on July 12, 2023, with both subbed and dubbed versions of the film available.
Crunchyroll distributed the film in the United States earlier this year, and while fans could rent or buy the film from Amazon and YouTube as of April, this will mark its first foray onto a streaming subscription service.
The film is Dragon Ball’s first 3D CG-animated feature film but was written by original manga creator Akira Toriyama, who was deeply involved in its development from start to finish. It sees Son Goku and Piccolo take on Androids Gamma 1 and Gamma 2, remnants of the Red Ribbon Army that are back for revenge.
The English voice cast includes Kyle Hebert (Gohan), Sean Schemmel (Goku), Robert McCollum (Goten), Jeannie Tirado (Pan), Christopher. R Sabat, (Piccolo and Vegeta), Sonny Strait (Krillin), and Monica Rial (Bulma).
In our 7/10 review of the film, IGN said: “The Dragon Ball franchise’s first 3D CG-animated feature film is a fun, low-stakes love letter to Gohan fans with exciting momentum as well as room for some moving sentimentality amidst earth-shattering fights.”
