Diablo 4 Season 1 is here and there are a handful of new game mechanics to digest. On top of that, you’ll need to start an all-new character if you want to access the Season 1 content.
As you are leveling up and navigating through the Season 1 story, you may find yourself stuck on the quest Holding Back The Flood. Here’s how to complete each of the chapters in this quest, so you can continue with the story.
How To Complete Chapter 1 Of The Season Journey
Despite having the Holding Back The Flood quest, there are no instructions or map icons to help guide you in completing it. You’ll only see that you need to complete both chapters 1 and 2 of the Season Journey.
To complete each chapter, you’ll first need to head to the Season tab next to your map in the menu bar. Once you are here, click on the Season Journey where you can view each chapter and their corresponding rewards. You don’t have to complete every objective to earn the rewards for a particular chapter though. For example, for Chapter 1, you can just complete any 7 of the 9 objectives to finish the chapter and unlock Chapter 2.
How To Complete Chapter 2 Of The Season Journey
Like Chapter 1, you can complete the second chapter by finishing more objectives. When you look at the progress bar for each chapter, you’ll notice a marker positioned near the end. This is when the chapter will be complete.
To finish Chapter 2, you’ll need to complete a total of 9 objectives. The ones you completed in Chapter 1 will carry over, so you’ll just need to finish 2 more objectives to complete Chapter 2. After doing so, you’ll be able to continue the Season 1 story.
Season Journey Rewards
Each time you complete a chapter, not only will it help you progress the overall story, but you’ll also receive a bounty of rewards. These rewards are completely separate of the Battle Pass rewards, so don’t forget to claim them each time you finish a chapter.
Rewards can vary from a handful of new Aspects, to Season Journey Caches, titles, and even Greater Favor. The latter can be used toward unlocking rewards in the Battle Pass, while the other ones directly affect your character and the gameplay.
