Some Medallion Qualification Dollars thresholds for Delta Air Lines elite tiers will increase for 2024 status, the carrier announced Thursday, adding that there are no changes to the Medallion Qualification Miles or Segments required. Customers begin earning on Jan. 1, 2023, for 2024 Medallion tiers.
The Gold Medallion threshold will increase to $8,000 from $6,000. The Platinum threshold will be $12,000, up from $9,000, and the Diamond threshold will increase to $20,000 from $15,000. There are no changes to the $3,000 threshold needed for Silver Medallion status.
In addition, Delta on Feb. 1, 2023, will expand its Choice Benefits options for Diamond members (who can select up to three benefits) and Platinum members (who can select one benefit).
The additions include a $500 credit for Diamond members and $200 for Platinum members on select Delta SkyMiles credit cards; two Gold Medallion gift statuses per selection for Diamond members and two Silver Medallion gift statuses per selection for Platinum members; a Delta Vacations Experience ($500 for Diamond, $400 for Platinum); a Medallion Qualification Dollars boost ($1,000 for Diamond, $500 for Platinum) to get a “head start” for the next Medallion year; an increase in the Delta travel credit voucher to $250; and a $250 sustainable aviation fuel contribution.
Further, beginning early in 2023, Medallion members with global and regional upgrade certificates will be able to request upgrades with their certificates during check-out on the Delta website. The carrier also has begun to accept miles toward baggage fees at most domestic airports.
