DC directs officials to take measures to conduct Karnataka SSLC exams safely – Times of India

UDUPI: Udupi deputy commissioner G Jagadeesha has asked officials to take necessary measures for the smooth conduct of the SSLC exams scheduled on July 19 and 22. He also urged the officials to follow Covid-19 safety measures.

Speaking at an SSLC examination review meeting on Wednesday, he said a total of 14,384 students will appear for the SSLC exam, of which 7,597 are boys. Exams will be conducted in 88 centres, and a total 2,266 staff have been appointed for the same. All the staff on examination duty have been vaccinated. All exam centres will have thermal scanners. A separate room should be arranged for students with symptoms, and every centre should have two additional rooms for such students.

Arrangements have been made for students with Covid-19 to take the exam at Covid care centres. School heads have been directed to make note of the vehicles that the students will be commuting to the exam centres, and if needed vehicles should be arranged for the students. A criminal case will be booked against those who spread rumours regarding the SSLC exams, the DC said.

In Mangaluru, Dakshina Kannada zilla panchayat CEO Kumar also conducted a meeting with the officials and directed them to take necessary measures for the smooth conduct of the exams.

3.9% positivity rate


Dakshina Kannada district recorded a positivity rate of 3.9%, with 304 cases being reported on Wednesday. The total number of active cases is 2,790. No fresh containment zone was declared, but 14 deaths were reported in the district. Of the total deaths, nine were men. Meanwhile, the Udupi district recorded 100 Covid-19 cases. The district has 903 active cases.
