Cumberland makes cut at Women’s Golf National Championships

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — Cumberland (Tenn.) women’s golf made the cut today during a rain-filled first three days of the NAIA Championship at Lincoln Park Golf Club.

The Phoenix finished the second round with a two-round, team-total of 603 (299-304) to end up in eighth place.

The tournament has been riddled with inclement weather. Tuesday’s opening round was washed out and only half the field finished the first round on Wednesday. All teams managed to finish today’s second round setting up Friday’s final round. The tournament was reduced to a 54-hole event due to Tuesday’s cancelation.

Cumberland is one of 17 teams to make the cut following today’s round.

Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) finished 18th, missing the team cut by just three shots. The Blue Raiders close out their season following a 615 (306-309).

British Columbia leads the tournament with a 572 (286-286) while Oklahoma City sits in second with a 582 (290-292) followed by SCAD-Savannah’s 584 (290-294) in third place.

Cumberland’s Emma Hermansson is the top MSC golfer in the field. She is 14th overall after carding a 1-over par 145 (71-74). Hermansson recorded four birdies during her first two rounds.

Nathalie Nutu is tied for 30th overall with a two-round total of 5-over par 149 (74-75).

Lindsey Wilson’s Katie Biddlecombe missed the individual cut by one stroke, finishing the two rounds with a 7-over par 151 (74-77).

Cumberland concludes the national championship on Friday as its final round begins at 8:09 a.m. CT.
