Creature Commandos Voice Cast Revealed: David Harbour, Frank Grillo, Sean Gunn and More

A newly revealed voice cast just gave us our first substantial look at a new era in the DC universe.

The voice cast behind Creature Commandos, the first animated series in the new DCU, is a star-studded affair full of superhero veterans and newcomers alike. The series will star Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., David Harbour as Eric Frankenstein, Indira Varma as The Bride, Maria Bakalova as Princess Ilana Rostovic, Zoe Chao as Nina Mazursky, and Alan Tudyk as Dr. Phosphorus. Sean Gunn will voice both Weasel and G.I. Robot, and Steve Agee is reprising his role as John Economos.

Collider first broke the news, with James Gunn confirming in a tweet.

Creature Commandos was announced back in March when James Gunn and Peter Safran unveiled their grand roadmap for the new era of DC storytelling. The show, which is written by James Gunn, will follow a group of monster-like beings who work under the supervision of Amanda Waller (Viola Davis). Seeing as the DCU’s first phase is called Gods and Monsters, it seems like a no-brainer that Creature Commandos will serve a key role in DC’s future.

Grillo and Harbour have already had their fair share of superhero experience seeing as both of them had substantial roles in the MCU. Harbour was introduced as Red Guardian in 2021’s Black Widow, and his character will be a key member in the upcoming supervillain team the Thunderbolts. Meanwhile, Grillo’s time with Marvel is assuredly done.

Grillo’s rendition of Crossbones saw the actor play a significant role in both Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Captain America: Civil War. However, the star wasn’t too happy about how Crossbones was treated by Marvel. During a recent interview with ComicBook.com, Grillo said that his move to the DCU was motivated by his disappointment in how Crossbones was utilized on screen.

“I think Crossbones serves a purpose, but I think the interesting thing is that if you see how many people around the world have responded to Crossbones, and again, he’s on the screen for a very f–king short amount of time, I think there’s more there,” he said. “I think there was more meat on the bone. I was disappointed, which is why I went over to DC.”

Nevertheless, it seems Grillo’s new home in DC will give him a more significant role as the manly leader Rick Flag, Sr.
