Counter Strike: Global Offensive (CS: GO) – Dota 2 Patch Accidentally Leaks More Info About the Rumoured Sequel

The Counter-Strike community has been abuzz with rumours of a potential sequel. Potential information about the iconic first-person shooter game’s sequel recently leaked online. Now, more evidence has surfaced making the hype around Counter-Strike 2 even stronger.

The latest development comes from Dota 2’s “Dead Reckoning” update files, which were released on March 6, 2023. The game developer made balance changes and added new heroes in this patch. It also focused on updating the game’s models to a newer format called ModelDoc. However, deep within the code, there are files that detail CS: GO maps, skins, and keys. The presence of these references adds to the already existing hype around the game’s transition to the Source 2 engine.

In the leaked files, people spotted references to an old map called Zoo along with cases, keys, spray kits, and stickers. These elements could all be related to CS: GO 2’s release. These leaks came just hours after reports surfaced online about CS: GO 2’s release. The reports detailed changes to the game’s matchmaking system and new 128-tick servers to rival other third-party CS: GO servers and servers from competition like Valorant.

The rumors about CS: GO 2 started earlier this month when data miners found information about Nvidia adding driver supports to two unknown executables called “csgos2.exe” and “cs2.exe.” This sparked a rumour about Valve potentially unveiling a sequel to the now-decade-old Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

All these leaks and reports have led many fans to believe that the Source 2 engine’s arrival is set for the end of March, and CS: GO 2 could be closer to a reality than ever before. However, Valve has yet to confirm any of these leaks or reports.
