Counter-Strike 2 Majors Tournament Might Be Held in Asia for the First Time in 2024: Report

Counter-Strike Majors for the upcoming Counter-Strike 2 game may be held in Asia next year. The new reports, if true, would see the biggest Counter-Strike tournament take place in Shanghai, China. This would mean that Asia will host its first-ever Majors tournament. PGL has already secured rights from Valve to host the first CS Major of 2024, which will take place in Copenhagen, Denmark in March next year. It has now been suggested that PGL intends to host the second Majors in China.

CS Majors 2024 in Asia

To do so, PGL is said to be entering a partnership with Perfect World, a Chinese tournament organiser. Perfect World was the publishing partner for Valve to introduce CS:GO in China as well. The report from CS news site HLTV (via Dot Esports) also claims that PGL and Perfect World already have plans to get the go-ahead from Valve.

Perfect World previously tried to host a Valve-sponsored event in China in 2022, but ultimately, Blast won the rights to host the tournament, which took place in Paris, France. This was also the last ever CS:GO Majors, and it became one to remember as Team Vitality won in their hometown while CS:GO player Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut lifted the cup. It was also a fairytale ending, as the last CS:GO Majors trophy was lifted by the player who was born on the same day that CS:GO was released worldwide.

Previously, Valve held the Majors in May and October. That changed after the company announced on July 19 that both Majors will now be held at the end of each competitive season. It remains to be seen if Perfect World can finally bring Majors to Asia with the help of PGL.
