India achieved its highest recovery rate at 98.23 per cent since March 2020. More than 12, 500 Covid-19 patients recovered in the last 24 hours, and 10,929 new cases were recorded. Active case count at 0.4 per cent is also lowest since March, the Union Health ministry data said.

At present, there are 1, 46, 950 Covid-19 cases, the lowest in 255 days. The daily positivity rate at 1.35 per cent is less than 2 per cent in the last 33 days. Moreover, the daily rise in new coronavirus infections has been below 20,000 for 28 straight days and less than 50,000 daily new cases have been reported for 131 consecutive days now.

Experts, however, have warned that the rising pollution levels can cause havoc to Covid-recovered patients who are vulnerable to residue lung problems, and the toxic gases and particulate matter in the air can affect the lungs directly.
