Universal Music Group has promoted executive Corey Williams to Vice President, Business & Legal Affairs, Rights & Clearances for Republic Records, Def Jam Recordings and Island Records.
Williams, a highly respected music industry executive, brings more than 30 years of experience to his new leadership position.
In the new role, Williams will provide an expanded focus on Rights and Clearances, as well as shared services across Republic, Def Jam and Island.
He will remain based in New York and continue to report to Antoinette Trotman, Senior Vice President, Business & Legal Affairs, Rights & Clearances for Republic Records, Def Jam Recordings and Island Records.
In 2015, Williams joined UMG as Director of Business & Legal Affairs and was promoted to Senior Director of Business & Legal Affairs soon after joining the company.
Prior to UMG, Williams served as Associate Director of Business & Legal Affairs at Atlantic Records.
Williams began his career in 1985 as an Assistant Audio Engineer at Sony Music Studios, where he worked with legendary artists George Clinton, Stevie Wonder, Nas and Michael Jackson, among many others.
In 1997, Williams joined Arista Records as Manager of Rights & Clearances.
