Convergence: How To Defeat Warwick

While you explore the Undercity of Zaun in Convergence, you will end up in the murky dark of the Slump. This is a ghastly place where all the pipelines converge, creating a dank sewer network deep in the city. In the Slump, it is easy to find lost things. This makes it a great spot to look for Syntixi Crystals, but a great danger also lurks in the dark.

While you navigate the dark tunnels, you will see movement in the background, pipes rumbling, and an eerie figure chasing you down. Future Ekko warns you to stay in the light, fearing that something dangerous may be pursuing you as you go through the level. That something is none other than the formidable hunter known as the Wrath of Zaun, Warwick. A tense chase scene ensues, and when running is no longer an option, you will have to fight your way to safety. The game sports lots of challenging bosses, such as Jinx, and strategy is key with Warwick too. Here’s everything you need to know to overcome this frightful foe.

Warwick’s Moveset

The battle with Warwick in Convergence

After the chase sequence, you find yourself with nowhere left to run after falling further down. Warwick will corner you, and now the fight begins. Warwick has three phases, each ramping up the aggression a little.

Each phase will end with you needing to use the new Phase Dive ability to get through a wall to dodge a powerful choreographed attack.

These are the attacks Warwick has in his moveset:

  • Leap Attack: Warwick Dives across the screen and into the wall, getting stuck as he collides with it. This leaves him briefly open to attack.
  • Three Claw Combo: Warwick performs three quick attacks, with the first two being tracking red attacks that can’t be dodged. He will turn around if you roll through him with the next attack. Stay back for the first two attacks, but the third blow of the combo can be dodged, so this is your opening to strike.
  • Red Leap: A leaping bite that can travel pretty far across the arena and cannot be dodged. As you go on to the other stages, he will teleport somewhere on the wall before leaping.
  • Howl: Starting at phase two, Warwick will howl once he gets down to about his last three health pips and create a barrier in the middle of the arena. He will charge a red attack that you need to dodge with Phase Dive or you will instantly die, then deplete the rest of his health to go on to the next phase. Beware of falling fireballs near the Phase Dive bug that will hit you once you cross. After doing that a couple of times, Warwick will get tired, and that is your chance to deliver as much damage as possible. In phase three, he will howl during the fight, bring fireballs down.

After defeating Warwick you will be awarded another Capacitor, bringing your Gadget capacity from four to five. This, crucially, makes it a bit easier to use three-slot gadgets and still have a little space to spare for other equipment. Warwick may not have been as daunting a foe as the most difficult Metroidvania bosses around, but he was a stiff challenge nonetheless.
