Company of Heroes 3 just received a live stream from the developers, showcasing the progress that they have made in developing the game, and revealing more about its campaign mode as well as the official release date.
As one of the most popular RTS series, Company of Heroes 3 will feature two different campaign stories, and they are both included in the base game, launching on November 17, 2022.
According to the developers, the first campaign story is set in Italy and it delivers a sand-box experience where the player decides the fate of the war and its army. So, the story progresses based on your choices and your victories.
On the other hand, the second campaign, known as North African Operation, is a linear story-driven campaign similar to that of the previous entries in the series. This is an opportunity that Relic Entertainment has provided to welcome the returning players and value their loyalty to the series.
North African Operation will feature a battle between German and British armies in the deserts of North Africa, however, players will take control of a brand new German faction, which represents the country’s army in the early years of World War 2. As a result, you will have more striking forces at your disposal rather than the defense-focused troops.
Aside from settings, factions, and stories, the two campaigns also feature different gameplay experiences. In the Italy campaign, you get to fight in tight spaces on a dense map, where the new destruction system of the game seems to play a huge role. Also, the Italian campaign features a dynamic map, where different incidents could happen in each playthrough.
In North African Operation, however, you are going to fight in large open areas where there are many covers to hide your troops or ambush enemies. So, it’s important to have the right tools for the fight. Moreover, there aren’t any dynamic events in the North African Operation, which means the incidents are scripted, and will not change in different playthroughs.
If the developers don’t face any unexpected difficulties, Company of Heroes 3 is ready to be launched on November 17 via Steam.
