Chris Hemsworth Thinks It May Be Time to ‘Close the Book’ On Thor as the Actor Announces Break From Acting

Chris Hemsworth thinks that it might be time to retire his Thor character from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The Thor: Love and Thunder star announced a break from acting. following a recent episode of Limitless, where it was revealed that he is genetically pre-disposed to develop Alzheimer’s disease.

In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Hemsworth said that Thor’s next appearance could likely be his final. Just like Iron Man and Captain America got heroic conclusions, Hemsworth hopes to have the same with Thor.

“Yeah, for sure. I feel like we’d probably have to close the book if I ever did it again, you know what I mean? I feel like it probably warrants that. I feel like it’d probably be the finale, but that’s not based on anything anyone’s told me or any sort of plans. You have this birth of a hero, the journey of a hero, then the death of a hero, and I don’t know… am I at that stage? Who knows?”

Hemsworth also added in the interview that he is open to doing the role as long as it is something unique and new. The Australian actor had previously said that he already has plans to stop playing the Greek god if it doesn’t feel right to him.

“Each time, if the opportunity comes up and presents itself, I’m just open to whatever creative exploration can happen, thanks to different writers and directors and so on. But I love playing the character, I really do. It always comes down to: ‘Is this script different to the last one? Are we repeating something?’ And when it becomes too familiar, I think that’s when I’d have to say, ‘Yeah, no, this doesn’t… I think I’ve… I’d like to exit before people tell me to exit.”
