CBSE aims to make students industry ready by collaborating with B&WSSC – Times of India

CBSE aims to gather information about the emerging market trends in Beauty and Wellness sector with the support of Beauty & Wellness Sector Skill Council (B&WSSC). Curricula and the content of the course would be developed in consonance with the emerging market trends in Beauty and Wellness sector.

Yoga and Beauty and Wellness as skill courses have been in the curriculum of Delhi government schools for more than one decade. Now the schools will have dedicated classes.

Speaking to Education Times, Biswajit Saha, director, CBSE, says, “Beauty and Wellness industry gravitates towards B&WSSC for popularising itself in the students’ community, which in the long run shall serve their commercial interests too.”

Realising the market demand and needs of prominent brands, CBSE hopes to create a workforce by helping them learn nuances at a young age. “There is an urgent need to know the kind of manpower is emphasised in domains like beauty salon space, cosmetic sector and nail painting sector. This requirement is being fulfilled through the representation of B&WSSC. Accordingly, the curriculum is being formulated and contents are being developed with the support of the industry so that students get industry-ready after completing the course.”

“The teachers would be trained as per the industry standards. Agreement with B&WSSC has been signed for getting timely inputs, content development, to train teachers and for future assessments where their involvement would be possible.”

This agreement with B&WSSC will provide students with hands-on experience and would create a conducive environment for teaching vocational courses on the school premises. This course is a full-fledged subject for classes IX to XII and for VI to VIII it is just a 15-20 hours module per year, adds Saha.

Monica Bahl, CEO, B&WSSC, says, “Our aim is to train school students as per National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF). We intend to establish an effective and efficient eco-system for development and imparting skills in Beauty and Wellness industry including content, curriculum, courses, information databases, delivery systems, standardisation of the accreditation and certification process to enhance employability of the Indian workforce in alignment with the globally accepted standards in Beauty and Yoga sub sector. We are actively working towards facilitating placement, employment including self-employment opportunities for the certified candidates.”

“Multiple career options are available for the candidates in sectors such as Tourism, Hospitality, Media, Aviation, Retail and Social Media. Many of these sectors are directly and indirectly linked to Beauty Salons, Yoga, Fitness, Spa and Rejuvenation, Product & Sales, Quality Assurance and Customer Service. These courses provide huge opportunities to the small-scale entrepreneurs.”
