BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Cumberlands’ (Ky.) Seth Benner and Georgetown’s (Ky.) Johan Castillo were named Mid-South Conference Baseball Players of the Week, conference officials announced Monday. MSC Baseball Player of the Week
Seth Benner – Cumberlands (Ky.) – Fr. – IF – Georgetown, Ky.
- Benner batted .571 (8-for-14) with two doubles, one triple, three home runs, 10 RBIs and five runs scored in four games for the Patriots
- The freshman was 3-for-4 with two home runs and six RBIs versus Alice Lloyd (Ky.), including a solo homer, a grand slam and a run-scoring single
- He hit a two-run homer in the first of three games against Shawnee State (Ohio)
- Benner added two hits with a double and a triple and a run scored in the second game of the series
- He doubled among two hits and scored a run in the series finale with the Bears
- This marks the first weekly honor of the season and first of his career for Benner
MSC Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Johan Castollo – Georgetown (Ky.) – Jr. – Fontana, Calif.
- Castillo tossed eight shutout innings versus Pikeville (Ky.)
- The junior lefthander struck out 10, did not allow a walk and gave up two hits in the eight frames in a 1-0 victory
- After allowing singles in the first and second innings, he retired 20-of-22 batters to end the game, working around a pair of errors
- This marks the first weekly honor of the season and first of his career for Castillo
