Canon has expanded its RF lens lineup with the launch of two new lenses in India. The company has launched the RF24mm F1.8 Macro IS STM and RF15-30mm F4.5-6.3 IS STM lenses designed for the EOS R range of mirrorless cameras.

The RF24mm F1.8 Macro STM lens is an affordable RF prime lens which joins the other RF prime lenses – 16mm, 24mm, 35mm, 50mm and 85mm lenses.
The RF15-30mm F4.5-6.3 IS STM, on the other hand, is an affordable zoom lens which joins the other zoom lenses from the RF lineup and covers the 15mm to 30mm focal length.
Both lenses come with the large diameter and short back focus that the EOS R camera system is known for, which results in both a compact optical system and good quality throughout the image.
Price and availability
The RF24mm F1.8 Macro IS STM lens is priced at Rs 58,495, while the RF15-30mm F4.5-6.3 IS STM lens costs Rs 52,495. The RF24 lens is scheduled to go on sale mid-July and the RF13-30mm will be available for purchase in September this year.
Features
The RF24mm prime lens is almost identical in size compared to the RF35 mm lens. Which, according to the company, makes it a good option for travel and landscape photography. The lens, when mounted on APS-C sensor camera transforms into a 38mm lens which makes it a good choice for portraits and street photography.
Also, the lens comes with a F1.8 aperture which not only makes it brighter than the kit zoom lens, but also returns better booked effect.
Another major highlight of the lens is its ability to shoot macro shots. The lens has a minimum focus distance of 0.14m and it can achieve up to 0.5x magnification.
The lens also comes with native lens image stabilisation (Optical IS) for up to 5 stores and can go up to 6.5 stops.
Talking about the RF15-30mm lens, it weighs 390g and features a relatively compact form factor. At 15mm, the RF15-30mm F4.5-6.3 IS STM can cover a view much wider than any standard kit lens. The wider 15mm end is also great for interior shots and breathtaking landscape shots.
At the 30mm zoom telephoto end, users can capture images utilizing a natural angle of view and perspective that is closer to the human eye.
When mounted on an APS-C EOS R camera, the RF15-30mm F4.5-6.3 IS STM has a very versatile 24-48mm zoom range, offering a wider angle of view at the wide end compared to a kit lens.
