Call Of Duty’s Long Partnership With PlayStation Has Seemingly Ended

PlayStation has been a partner of the Call of Duty franchise for almost a decade now, but that seems to be a thing of the past as per recent developments.

As highlighted in a tweet by Twitter User Idle Sloth, PlayStation has possibly lost its marketing deal with Activision. In one of their recent Corporate Strategy meetings, Sony has provided a preview of the games which it has marketing deals with. Some notable names in the list include GTA 5, Genshin Impact, the Avatar game, and Hogwarts Legacy. However, what is the biggest surprise is the fact that Call of Duty is nowhere to be found in the list.

Call Of Duty’s Long Partnership With PlayStation Has Seemingly Ended

While we have not received any PlayStation exclusive Call of Duty as such, there has been exclusivity in some other form. For instance Call of Duty Black Ops 4 was a timed exclusive, while others have contained some special game mode or expansions for a limited time. Call of Duty Modern Warfare’s Survival mode was exclusive on the platform for an entire year while Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War had some PlayStation-exclusive Zombies content.

When Vanguard was released last year, there was quite a surprise for PlayStation users as the extra perks were reduced to almost nothing. Apart from some Double XP events and some in-game items, there is nothing special PlayStation users enjoyed. This seems to have set a precedence for the widening gap between the companies.

Considering that Activision is now a part of Microsoft, this shouldn’t come off as a huge surprise. As things stand, the next three iterations of the game will definitely be coming on PlayStation. But beyond that, things could go either way as Microsoft might look to bolster its roster with Activision’s flagship franchise.
