Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Surpasses $500 Million Globally and Earns Another $67.3 Domestically

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has once again won the weekend box office by earning another $67.3 million domestically and surpassing $546 million worldwide.

As reported by Variety, Wakanda Forever has now brought in $288 million in North America and $258 million internationally. Domestically, it had a 63% drop from its opening weekend, which was a bit higher than anticipated. Industry sources were said to have expected the sequel to bring in more than $70 million in its second weekend.

The original Black Panther earned $111 million in its second weekend, which was a 44.7% drop from its $202 million opening.

The Menu was one of the two big films to open this past weekend and challenge Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and it managed a second-place finish with $9 million in ticket sales. She Said, on the other hand, only opened with $2.2 million.

In our The Menu review, we said that it “serves a delicious meal of murder, laughs, and commentary on class warfare and consumerism, with a stellar cast led by a commanding Ralph Fiennes.”

In our She Said review, we said, “an artless retelling of major events, She Said chronicles the investigation into Harvey Weinstein in mechanical fashion, flattening its tale of victimhood, paranoia, and perseverance into a journalism movie checklist.”

Fathom Events’ faith-based series The Chosen Season 3: Episodes 1 & 2 surprised with a third-place finish, as it brought it $8.2 million. Rounding out the top five were Black Adam’s $4.5 million and Ticket to Paradise’s $3.2 million.

Black Adam’s domestic haul has now totaled $157 million, while Ticket to Paradise has jumped up to $61.6 million.
