Biggest gainers & losers of the day: Ramky Infra rallies, Voda Idea drops 5%

New Delhi: Domestic equity markets made a strong comeback on Tuesday after a sharp two-day fall as the concerns over the Omicron variant eased. Investors lapped up quality stocks at attractive prices. Markets marginally eased in the final hour ahead of RBI’s MPC policy on Wednesday.

The 30-share pack Sensex rallied 886.51 points or 1.56 per cent to close at 57,633.65. Its broader peer Nifty50 gained 264.45 points or 1.56 per cent to 17,176.70. The broader markets ended in green as the BSE midcap and smallcap indices added a per cent each.

Arijit Malakar, Head Research (Retail) of Ashika Stock Broking said, “investors followed the buy-on-dip strategy and thus accumulated quality stocks at a cheaper price. Riding on the positive developments, major global equity markets gained today.”

Many smallcap construction and engineering players including Ramky Infra, Patel Engineering and Karda Construction hit their upper circuits. Vodafone Idea dropped 5 per cent after it inked a pact with Tanla Platforms, where NXTdigital further bled.

Let’s have a look at the biggest movers and shakers of Tuesday’s session:


GAINERS

Ramky Infrastructure: The smallcap construction and engineering player hit its upper circuit of 20 per cent at Rs 210.05, extending its rally. It has zoomed as much as 41 per cent in the last five trading sessions, thanks to its strong technical setup.


Patel Engineering

: The smallcap construction and engineering player was on investors’ radar and surged 15 per cent to Rs 26.80, after the circuit filter for the company’s shares was revised to 20 per cent.


Satin Creditcare Network:
The microfinance lender rallied 15 per cent to Rs 87.15, after the company board approved fundraising plans in the meeting held on Monday.


Hindustan Copper:
The state-owned miner was in focus amidst the reports that the government may plan to liquidate its land bank and a proposal will be soon on the cabinet table. The scrip added 10 per cent to Rs 125.95.


Karda Constructions:
The smallcap construction player hit its upper circuit of 10 per cent at Rs 18.80 after French financial services company Societe Generale acquired 36 lakh equity shares in the company at Rs 16.65 per share via an open market transaction.


Rattanindia Enterprises:
The electric utility player surged 10 per cent to Rs 47.05 after the Niti Aayog proposed to RBI to categorize loans to electric vehicles as Priority Sector Lending (PSL) segment.


LOSERS

Privi Speciality Chemicals: The speciality chemical player tanked 7 per cent to Rs 1,778.25 after the BSE sought clarification from the company over the sudden spurt in its volume and price.

Vodafone India: The telecom player dropped over 5 per cent to Rs 14.21 as the company partnered with Tanla Platforms to provide secure and encrypted international messaging traffic on the Vi network using the Wisely Platform.

Nxtdigital: The Hinduja Group’s media and broadcasting arm continued to bleed after the sudden rally of 35 per cent in the scrip in the last month, following the success of its rights issue. The scrip shed 5 per cent to Rs 423.50.

Responsive Industries: The furniture and furnishing player declined 4 per cent to Rs 116.45 on the back of profit booking. Investors took some profit off the table after the scrip surged about 21 per cent in the last three sessions.
