Biggest gainers & losers of the day: Apex Frozen and IFCI hit upper circuits

The 30-share pack Sensex soared 776.5 points or 1.35 per cent to close at 58,461.29. Its broader peer Nifty50 gained 234.75 points or 1.37 per cent to 17,401.65. The broader markets ended higher as the BSE midcap and smallcap indices added a per cent each.

Vishal Wagh, Research Head, Bonanza Portfolio said that Indian equity benchmarks opened on a flat note in the morning amid mixed global cues. But the headline indices managed to hover near the day’s highs in the late afternoon session.

Apex Frozen Foods and hit their upper circuits of 20 per cent each. NXT Digital advanced 18 per cent after a strong response for the rights issue. Brightcom Group and Aurum Proptech hit lower circuits of 5 per cent each.

Let’s have a look at the biggest movers and shakers of Thursday’s session:

GAINERS

Apex Frozen Foods: The seafood player hit its upper circuit of 20 per cent to Rs 297.60, ahead of increased demand on the back of a strong technical setup. The scrip witnessed a more than usual demand.

IFCI: The non-banking financial player hit its upper circuit of 20 per cent to Rs 14.37, despite the rating agency ICRA downgrading the rating and outlook of the company’s debt instruments.

NXT Digital: The smallcap cable and broadcasting player zoomed 18 per cent to Rs 430.15, after the company informed the bourses that its rights issue worth Rs 288.61 crore was subscribed 1.94 times.

PG Electroplast: The smallcap consumer electronics player zoomed 16 per cent to Rs 646.90, ahead of its participation in an investor conference hosted by Investec Capital Services (India).

Gujarat Fluorochemicals: The speciality chemicals player advanced 12 per cent to Rs 2,316.60, after the brokerage firm ICICI Securities initiated the coverage on the counter with a target price of Rs 3,086, which shows a 50 per cent upside in the counter.

JMC Projects (India): The construction and engineering player soared 10 per cent to Rs 100.30 after the company received two orders worth Rs 1,795 crore, including water supply projects worth Rs 1,085 crore.

LOSERS

Spandana Sphoorty Financial: The microfinance lender shed 6 per cent to Rs 441.10 as the investors booked profits in the company. The stock had hit its upper circuit of 20 per cent in the previous session.

Brightcom Group: The IT software products player hit its lower circuit of 5 per cent to Rs 124.50, as investors booked profits in the company. Shares of the company had risen more than 70 per cent in the last month.

Aurum Proptech: The smallcap IT player, formerly known as Majesco, continued to hit its lower circuit of 5 per cent to Rs 173.30. The counter has declined about 15 per cent in the last one week.

Alankit: The diversified commercial services player tanked 4 per cent to Rs 15.30 on the back of a weak technical setup on daily charts. The scrip has given up more than 15 per cent in the last one month.
