Actor and comedian Bharti Singh—who is soon to return on TV with a new season of ‘The Kapil Sharma Show 3’—recently made some shocking revelations about her past.

The comedian appeared on Maniesh Paul’s podcast where she revealed about being inappropriately touched by show coordinators during the initial days of her career.

Bharti revealed that she was unaware, and also lacked the confidence to raise her voice.

Bharti said that the show coordinators would rub their hands on her back. The actress said that she would know that it is not right, but lacked the courage to speak up.

She also revealed that her life before fame went in extreme poverty. The comedian talked about losing her father at the age of two and her mother cooked meals at other’s home.

“The coordinators (of shows) misbehaved sometimes. They would rub their hands on the back. I would know it’s not a good feeling, but then I would think that he’s like my uncle, he can’t be bad. Maybe I am wrong and he is right. So I thought this doesn’t feel right. I had no understanding.”

Bharti further said that now she has gained the confidence and understanding speaking up. “I have the confidence to fight now, for my body, for my honour. I can now say ‘what is the matter, what are you looking at, go out we are changing now’. I can speak up now, but I had no courage back then,” she added.

Bharti shared, “Ghar jaane ka mann nahi karta tha (I didn’t feel like going home). I would stay in college with my friends, and eat at the hostel. I knew once I go back, I would have to face poverty. Live in that dim light.”
