BGMI Unban: Government of India Confirms the Time-Limited Return, Relaunch Part of the 3-Month Trial Approval

Battlegrounds Mobile India is finally back in the country after almost a year since its ban in July 2022. There’s plenty of cause for celebration among BGMI fans who will finally get to play their beloved mobile battle royale game, but BGMI’s return is not permanent yet.

BGMI is on a 3-month trial

Following the official announcements and reports, Mr Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Union Minister of State for Electronics & Technology, provided additional information on the matter.

Chandrashekhar said in a tweet that while BGMI has returned, it has only received a 3-month trial approval from the Indian government. This temporary approval has been provided to BGMI after Krafton has complied with several issues raised by the Indian government.

He also highlighted that the government will be keeping a “close watch” on other issues such as user harm and addiction. The government will then make a final decision about the fate of BGMI in the country at the end of this three month trial approval.

BGMI’s return was announced today as Krafton India CEO Sean Hyunil Sohn said, “We are highly grateful to the Indian authorities for allowing us to resume operations of Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI).” He added, “We are excited to announce that Battlegrounds Mobile India will be available for download soon and we cannot wait to welcome you back to our platform.”

BGMI servers are currently unavailable

Currently, the game is pending a major update to gear up for its eventual return. A notice in the game says the servers will be unavailable for some time due to the pending update. Players have been assured that their progress attained so far in BGMI will be retained after the update.
