The tournament will start with The Grind, for professional players to qualify into BGIS 2023. Krafton has released teasers for its announcement, while revealing the total prize pool, number of teams that will compete in The Grind, and the duration of the tournament. Latest details on BGMI’s The Grind and Battlegrounds Mobile India Series 2023
The Grind kicks off on Thursday, 20th July, and will serve as the first phase of qualifiers for the Battlegrounds Mobile India Series 2023. The Grind will be played over a period of five weeks, where 256 invited teams will compete against each other, to give us the top 64 teams who will compete in BGIS 2023.

The Grind: format
Of the 256 invited teams, 128 teams (four groups of 32 teams) will play against each other in week 1, followed by the remaining 128 teams competing in week 2. A total of 24 matches, with six matches per day, will be played in the first two weeks.
The top 64 teams (two groups of 32 teams each) from the end of each week will compete against each other in week 3 and week 4, respectively. Only 32 teams will qualify from week 3 and week 4 each, advancing to The Grind final week, which is expected to start on 18th August, 2023. The 64 teams will be seeded into ranks to determine the top 32 and bottom 32 teams.
According to reports, several teams from the popular esports organisations of India have already received invites, including tier 1 teams like S8UL, Godlike, OR Esports and the like. Underdog teams from BGIS Season 1, who performed well in rounds 2, 3 and 4 too, have reportedly been invited for The Grind 2023.
BGIS 2023: format
The top 32 teams from The Grind will directly qualify into the round 3 of BGIS 2023, while the bottom 32 teams will have to compete in round 2.
BGIS 2023, however, will kickstart with in-game qualifiers in round 1 for underdog teams who will soon get to register for the tournament. The top teams from the in-game qualifiers will get to compete with the bottom 32 teams of The Grind’s Finale week in round 2 for slots in round 3. Teams that don’t qualify into round 3 from round 2 of the BGIS, will get another chance of grabbing a slot in the semi-finals as a part of Round 4. The semi-finals will lead to BGIS 2023 Finals, which will be a LAN event.
BGIS 2023 prize pool and other details
While the dates and schedule have not yet been revealed, we know that BGIS The Grind will start on 20th July, and should conclude by 24th August. The total prize pool for Battlegrounds Mobile India Series 2023 has been revealed to be as massive as INR 2 crores.
