BGMI: Former Krafton India Exec Anuj Tandon Claims ‘Exciting’ Times Ahead for the Gaming Industry, Reportedly Teases the Unban

It will soon be a year since the Indian audience witnessed the removal of Krafton’s Battlegrounds Mobile India from the app stores. Amidst the disappointment of the banning of battle royale game, speculations are now rife about the game’s comeback.

The latest is an update from Anuj Tandon, the CEO of Gaming at JetSynthesys, and a former Krafton executive. He took to Twitter to hint at “exciting” times ahead for the Indian gaming landscape. Here’s more on these developments.

“Exciting” times or just BGMI unban?

Yesterday, Anuj Tandon posted the following on Twitter- “Funny feeling- next Quarter is going to be exciting for gaming in India.” This cryptic tweet makes us wonder if Tandon is now hinting at the expected comeback of the country’s beloved Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI). As it is, popular Indian caster Ocean Sharma has also acknowledged the tweet with an emoji.

The buzz within the gaming community has long been that BGMI is soon to return. While the question of “when” remains unanswered, developers Krafton confirmed as early as August 2022, that they are working with the Indian government to bring the game back. Most recently reports surfaced about the government’s plan to unban BGMI for three months, with a couple of restrictions like those on gaming hours. Anuj Tandon’s latest tweet follows these reports.

IGN India has been in conversation with Anuj Tandon. Back in November, he shared his opinions about the future of the gaming in India. He mentioned that gaming industry in India is at a “pivotal moment”, with “monetisation picking up over the last year.”
